- “Now in her mid-70s, you’d think the one-time First Lady of Rockabilly would be either retired, or running on fumes. You’d be wrong on both counts.”

You might recall that Jack White (the White Stripes, the Raconteurs) worked with country legend Loretta Lynn on her acclaimed comeback album in 2004, Van Lear Rose. White is one of the great current rock guitarists, and you might not expect that the pairing would work at all; but White has worshipful respect for the greats in all musical genres, and it shows in that fantastic album. What you might not know is that, in 2011, he did the same thing with Wanda Jackson in a comeback album for her, The Party Ain’t Over.
In his rave review of Wanda’s new album, Unfinished Business, author Stephen King – who also publishes a regular column in Entertainment Weekly magazine, The Pop of King – states: “Now in her mid-70s, you’d think the one-time First Lady of Rockabilly would be either retired, or running on fumes. You’d be wrong on both counts. The lady is still performing, and . . . did I say something about running on fumes? Make that running on hi-test, as this album proves. A full tank.”
Have I convinced you yet that we here on the Mississippi Coast are blessed beyond measure to have a genuine musical legend like Wanda Jackson come to call?
