The J. Geils Band – The J. Geils Band (1970): The J. Geils Band is the debut album from a sinewy bar band that handles original songs and secondary blues standards with the same intensity. Before long, some rock critics were touting the J. Geils Band as America’s answer to the Rolling Stones, and they were one of the top touring American rock bands in the 1970’s. Hit songs would come along in later years, including “Must of Got Lost” in 1974, plus “Centerfold”, “Love Stinks”, and “Freeze Frame” in the early 1980’s. There are no familiar songs here for most casual rock and blues fans, either now or at the time, but this album is a lot of fun.
