It is easy to get distracted by the fine restaurants and bars on the Oldtown beachfront in Bay St. Louis, but if you never make it back to Second Street, you will miss out on a gem called The Buttercup. They serve breakfast and lunch all day and offer simple but inventive fare in a lovely building that has a great vibe. I am a sucker for an innovative omelet, and the crawfish etouffe omelet that I got there this week is the best I have had in years. They even lent me an umbrella to get back to my car during the rainstorm earlier in the week.
