Tennessee Ernie Ford – Hymns (1956): Besides his secular career, Tennessee Ernie Ford regularly released gospel albums as well; in fact, most of the Ford albums that I own are gospel records. Hymns is just his second album and is the first religious album to become a Gold record. Ford’s voice is tailor made for inspirational music, with this album including “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Rock of Ages”, “Sweet Hour of Prayer”, and others.
