Foghat – Fool for the City (1975): Foghat is an American (and an American-style) blues-rock band, though the bandmembers are all from England, with three having been in the British blues-rock band Savoy Brown that had enjoyed considerable success in the U.S. Fool for the City was the band’s fifth album and their commercial breakthrough, with two songs on Side 1, the title song “Fool for the City” and “Slow Ride” being massive radio hits. Side 2 opens with a cover of the Robert Johnson classic “Terraplane Blues”; as I recall, “Terraplane Blues” was the only song that was a hit for Johnson during his all too brief lifetime (Robert Johnson is yet another member of the “27 Club”). Fool for the City is Foghat’s largest selling studio album and represents their creative peak as well.
