America’s Best Loved Hymns (Various Artists) (1969): This is a four-album box set by a variety of gospel and popular-music performers that includes vocal, choir and instrumental recordings (guitar, piano, organ, etc.), with several songs being whistled. I am sure that some favorites are omitted here and there, though none come immediately to mind. At a total of 88 songs, America’s Best Loved Hymns is nothing if not comprehensive.
