Great Grammy Awards tonite – one of the best in years. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr together of course were a treat, and P!nk has been a long-time favorite of mine since her work with Linda Perry back when. I spotted Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon in the audience also; he’s sure starting to look like his Dad. The country collaboration with Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard and Blake Shelton – what can I say except that it was really something special; you have to appreciate the greats while you have them. But maybe the best of all was the super-cool Daft Punk/Stevie Wonder/Nile Rodgers/Pharrell Williams performance of “Get Lucky” – and they just won Record of the Year! Of course, I still haven’t yet seen Queens of the Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails, and Dave Grohl playing together – that’s why I’m waiting up! 🙂

Had not watched the Grammys since 1979…tuned in to see Paul and Ringo . Enjoyed Ringo’s “Photograph “, one of my favorite song that has become more meaningful as the years roll on,

I agree, Ash! 🙂 I was so glad that I stayed up for that last rockin’ show; I started to roll over and go to sleep when I heard the announcer mention that NIN and QOTSA were coming up. Did you know that the NIN guy got an Oscar a few years back? I was so pleased! The darn network cut off Queens of the Stone Age in mid-performance, but maybe I can find it on YouTube sometime. I don’t know if you remember, but Peggy and I went to see “the Stones” (as she usually calls QOTSA) in New Orleans. What a fun night that was! 🙂

I had to look it up myself, because I am not that great anymore remembering details: According to Wikipedia, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won the Oscar for Best Original Score for The Social Network; the two won the Grammy for best Movie Soundtrack for another film they scored, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Pretty cool, huh? 🙂 Peggy did seem to like the QOTSA – we talked about it for years afterward – and for sure, I was in my element! She even stepped up and scored the tickets for us (the show was sold out), and seeing her do that was almost as cool as the show itself. I was the only one there who seemed to know the opening act: Turbonegro, a wild Norwegian rock band; I had one of their albums.
